I finally learned that perhaps that hate connects to my intolerance of the item. I even wrote a letter once that explained my delimma and how I just want to be friends with dairy. You can read my letter here.
But, I still find it hard to understand why we humans drink/eat milk from another animal way past the time when it is seen acceptable to drink human milk from a woman's breast. No other animal does this. Why us?

I've always hated milk, and now I think I hate it even more...yuck.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteIt's a bit of a mystery, isn't it? I'm also always amazed by people who act completely grossed out at the thought of milk from a woman's breast - but will chug down milk from a COW BREAST without a second thought. All that said - I still love my icecream.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand that either. I wonder when it became obscene to drink milk from a human, and why a cow or a goat or whatever other animal is ok.
DeleteI love chocolate milk (chocolate anything), and I love ice cream. But you've put thoughts in my mind that kind of gross me out! haha
ReplyDeleteI do love ice cream, too. I have not yet found a non-dairy one that tastes as good as milk, though.
DeleteHaha! I just asked my cousin the same question!!
ReplyDeleteIt's really a hard question.
DeleteYou made me laugh. I love how you mind works. I have never pondered that question. How fun! I don't drink it either, except for hot cocoa with lots of yummy chocolate.
ReplyDeleteThanks! ;-)
DeleteIt's getting to be the time of year when some good hot chocolate is just what the evening ordered!
Here's one vote for almond milk [X]
ReplyDeleteI have tried that with cereal and thought it was a nice touch. Maybe I'll go back to it next grocery trip.
DeleteWeeeelll, technically, we aren't drinking it from the cow's breast. We're drinking it from a bottle after it's been harvested.
ReplyDeleteAnd we do it because we have thought processes sophisticated enough to realize that we can make money off of it and use it for cooking and such.
Now I'll drink my milk and go, "Ah, fresh from the cow's breast" just to freak people out. XDDD
I think I remember a video of Tom Green from years back where he sucked milk from a cow's teet. It was seen as so gross, but it is not seen as gross to buy it in a bottle. I don't get it.
DeleteJust reading and rereading that fresh from the cow's breast statement makes me cringe. If I drank milk, I think I would start saying that, too. Funny.
It's the pus that gets me. I've never thought of it this way before. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteEven that word is gross!! Thinking of it in a food item is completely revolting.
