The things I do for hair

Long day.

I went to get my hair done.  She said to be there at 7am.  I rang the bell at 7:03.  We started at 7:15.

Finished the last twist at 9:10pm.

The hairdresser said that I have more hair and thicker hair than anyone she has ever seen.

I am not exaggerating with the time.  She did take a few short breaks to deal with her two-year old twin girls.  But it lasted that long.

Proof:  I watched six and a half movies.
The Wood
The Bachelorette
Brown Sugar
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
The Karate Kid (new one with the Smith kid)
G.I.Joe
the first half of A-Team

I'm too tired to do anything besides take the shower that I needed after sitting and having sticky toddlers crawl on me intermittently throughout the day.  I don't even want to eat - just figure out how to wrap my hair around my head so I can sleep adequately.

It will take a few days to get used to the extensions (I'm going from 2 1/2" hair to twists that now go down to my mid-back.

  1. 1. It's too much to hope for to get a picture? I'd love to see your new 'do.

    2. Holy cats - I'm being super nosy, but how much did that cost??? (If that's too nosy a question, I'll shut up about it.) :-)

    1. 1. Picture possibly coming soon.
      2. $190.00 with tip. The twists should last for 1-3 months depending on how rigorously I watch it each time.

    2. That's, like, WHOA. And I thought the $80 I drop at my hair salon was bad. Dang. Still, for the intensive labor and time spent, I'm sure it's worth every penny, and then some.

    3. Yeah!! Going from paying nothing for over a decade to that was really something. But, it will last for at least a month (some people keep them for three-six - with maintenance appointments). So, I guess for people who do stuff to their hair regularly and pay for it, it is the amount they would spend during that amount of time.

  2. What in heck did they do to your hair that took that long! I think my longest hair appointment was only two and a half hours!

    1. Look up Senagalese twists in an image search and you will see them.

My hair care is usually really quick, too, so this was a big challenge.

    1. You don't eva lie!!

I wish I had thought about it while I was in the H. It would have been faster to fly down to Houston, drive all the way from the airport and have her do it and then fly back to StL - and they would have looked better... not that these ones look that bad, but I've seen her work.
