Still going strong with posting each day this year.
Here are the top 10 posts from the month of July. Feel free to read or re-read any posts.
After all my logic and my theory - Post about how St Louis should not be the most dangerous city in the country. I incorporate some Fugees - you can never go wrong with Lauryn Hill... unless it is dealing with paying taxes, right?
Saturday Quote: Why complicate life? - Great quote.
Nahwlayduhs - Post about my long-time incorrect understanding of what a candy was really called.
Social Construct with Power - A bit of my thoughts on race and race identification and relations.
Possibly the worst invention ever - If you have ever been in a bathroom with toilet rolls that do not move a full circle, you will understand this rant.
Thick and full of body - The hair dresser said I have more and thicker hair than anyone she had ever dealt with. I guess I should be proud, even though my hair style took 14 hours to complete.
Summer is tasty plastic tubes - How could you not enjoy frozen freeze-pops in the summer time? Reminds me of childhood.
You may rejoice, I (still) must mourn - Just my views on the US's independence day.
The things I do for hair - More on my 14 hour hair styling extravaganza.
Pleasing others vs living my life - I have spent a lot of my life trying to please others. I am trying to work on making myself happy.

Family cup holders
The weekend with the family was excellent! I'm the last visitor left in Houston after a house of six visitors and my sisters' family of four were all together. We definitely missed Kid Sis #1 who couldn't come since she was studying for the Board Exam she had to take today.
One of the reasons I love my family is because we can just laugh together. We have so many old jokes and one liners that we use with each other. Yesterday, my Big Bro, Kid Sis #3 and I were doing one of our regular gags on each other and my brother said he honestly didn't remember the origin of it. We explained it to him and he said he had completely forgot; he just associated it with us now.
One of the traditional jokes we have goes back to when my brother was in college (I think).
I don't remember how it started, but we would put an old cup holder in someones bag or somewhere in their room and they would find it sometimes days, sometimes weeks later and then have to pass it on to another sibling.
The cup holder is always ugly and for all of us, it is useless. But it is the thought that counts, right?
Now that most of us are in different cities, it is even more fun to do.
Last time my brother was in my town, I knew he would be trying to get it to me. I didn't take my eyes off of him for a second. Or so I thought. In the 15 seconds it took for him to move the seat forward to let his girlfriend out of the back of my Mini, he slipped it into my glove compartment where I did not find it for a few weeks.
I got it back to him somehow.
With all the fun of the weekend, I had completely let my guard down. This morning, I was starting to repack my clothes. Found the ugly thing in a side pocket of my backpack.
I succeeded in my mission this weekend of getting my nephew to call his mother Mommie Dearest. Now I have to start plotting how to get this cup holder back to another sibling.

Remembering to write
I just passed the 400th post mark for this blog last week. It happened with no fanfare. I didn't even realize it until today.
In honor of my writing and because I have posted for over 50 days in a row, I am going to put a spot light on some of my past posts that stand out to me (page views, comments, content, title, whatever).
Possibly the worst invention ever - Seriously!?! Who's idea was this and why do they still exist?
All-star game and meth issues - Because I don't love baseball like everyone else does. Read what I would rather do than even think of going to a game.
Six Items or Less - No undies don't count: I took part in the experiment of wearing only six items of clothing for an entire month. It was truly great - liberating. I wear more than six items now, but still find that they all basically look the same.
Basically effective - In part because of the 6IOL, I began getting rid of a lot of clothing. That led to me simplifying my life in other ways. Again, liberating.
Even Niecy has never seen such foolishness - If you have seen Messiest Home in America with Niecy Nash (I think Vanessa from the Cosby Show took over) you know that these people have a hard time getting rid of items. The images of their homes are shocking.
Used sanitary napkins - come on! - Just disgusting. Another messy home.
Wordless Wednesday: Beautiful images of women/girls - After all that nastiness it is great to look at awesome art.
Wordless Wednesday: Bras - Just because the pictures are funny.
Human Rights Art - Not all art is just to be viewed. Some of it has messages.
After all my logic and my theory I add a... - There is no way this city should be in this top 10 list. Even have a shout out to Lauryn Hill at the end and in the title of the post.
More than a pain in the neck - This surgery was just another ailment that I have had to deal with of late. Fortunately it worked out and is healing well.
Courting, colours, cafeterias, and cotton - Looking at different issues of race and my past with such topics.
Worry less and feel good anyway - This is my goal for this year.
I've written a lot and hope that I am getting better as I focus on writing more often. Congrats to me for 400+ posts. Here's to continued writing and more consistency even after this NaBloPoMo is finished.

What is up yours? Seriously!
I work along side some pretty gross people. They are people who, in the lunch room, will leave pieces way larger than small crumbs on the floor or on the table when they eat. People who eat chilli, spill a small bit as they move their spoon past the bowl, and then leave that mess on the table. When I go back into the room later to use the restroom, the mess is there, solidified. These are people, who (based on the dirt and under-nail grime) often do not seem as though they have washed their hands since their last hunting weekend when they dug their hands into their recent catch.
Speaking of the restroom, it is in the same room as the lunch room. There are two faculty restrooms, one is designated as the women's, the other for the men. Usually, if one is occupied, a person will use whichever one is available.
These are the same restrooms that consist of possibly the worst invention ever in life.
Today, I went sat in the room before school to eat a tasty breakfast from the local donut shop - nothing like bacon, eggs, and cheese on a fresh bagel in the morning. As I sat there, I was amazed at how clean the room is in the mornings after the custodial staff has cleaned the room.
I have been trying to up my water intake this week since my skin was feeling kind of dry. So, I had to use the bathroom this morning before my normal lunchroom break. I went into the bathroom and noticed that there was a strong smell of funk. As though I had gone in right after someone had really blown the place up. As I quickly squatted to get my pee on, I was quoting the guy from Friday - don't go in there for about 30-40 minutes.
Just now (at the end of the day) I went in to tinkle again.
I stilled smelled what was now beyond funk.
The smell was so bad that I had to look closer at the toilet and figure out what the hell it was.
On the sides of the toilet were brown streaks. Below the toilet were two fairly large, brown droplets nestled at just the point where they must have dropped as they dripped down the side of the toilet.
DIS-GUS-TING.
Some nasty-ass-mo-fo truly BLEW UP the toilet.
How do you shit and the stuff gets on the outside of toilet? And it had to have been early in the morning, so what did you eat last night or this morning to make such a gigantic explosion force its way out of your bowels? What has gotten into you? Do you have some sort of parasite? Do you have an even bigger aversion to dairy than I do? Do you have giant monster in you that released itself through your nether-regions?
Help me understand.
I have seen a toilet get clogged, but these toilets are the industrial kind that would probably suck your bowels right out of your ass hole if you sat too far into the toilet.
How did a person clog the toilet so much that the shit literally overflowed and lept out of the bowl and splayed onto the floor?
Seriously!!
Help me understand.

Possibly the worst invention ever
I have always despised public restrooms. I didn't go to the bathroom outside my house (unless it was a friend I knew well or unless it was a dire emergency) until college. Then I decided that I would be unable to hold it for a semester until I could go home and use my parents' toilet. I am regular and like to stay hydrated - plus I didn't think that would have been humanly possible or healthy. I guess if I was really serious about it I could have invested in some industrial diapers like Lisa Nowak.
After I started using public restrooms, I insisted on using them as quickly as possible as well as on touching as little as possible.
I like when the facilities are kept up and when they are set up conveniently. Unfortunately that is not always the case. Especially on long road trips or in some public schools or in public parks and some museums.
One thing that is not convenient when I am squatting over a toilet seat is a toilet roll that is not functional. Some are set up to where only one half of one half of a square of toilet tissue is dispensed at a time. I guess this is good for keeping up my athletic build since I get a decent quad work out as I try and gather enough 2"x2" niblets of one-ply to make up a wipe worthy pile.
This is not the worst, though.
The worst bathroom invention; the thing that I cannot even begin to understand the purpose of; the thing that really just annoys the hell out of me and anyone I have heard in the stall next to me also trying to manipulate this devise as they try to move with the quickness to get out of the public stalls...
The toilet tissue dispenser that does not roll in a complete circle. You know what I am talking about? That piece of shit that does a half rotation and then stops so that you have to constantly be collecting the tissue in one hand and slide it through the gap in the back (careful not to let it touch the filthy wall/dispenser container) so that you can do another half rotation to gather some more tissue.
How incredibly annoying.
It takes about 5 minutes, then you decide that 6 sheets will just have to do, and you then begin to pray that they have some soap in the dispensers by the sink -- and not that watery shit. Real soap so that you will be germ free. And paper towel so that you won't have to touch the door handle after all the shit-birds who don't wash their hands or who decided the toilet paper was too much of a hassle and either didn't wipe or who used their hands to semi-wipe. Gross, I know. But it could happen.
So, while you are at that happy hour drinking your fancy (hopefully eco-friendly) vodka-filled drink and eating those peanuts/chips in the community bowl on the table -- think about where those hands have been. Or while you are at that political meet and greet supporting our local candidate for Missouri state rep., Don Calloway, check the bathrooms' toilet and soap dispensers before you start shaking hands, think about the restroom situation. Or while you are at that pick up game slapping fives or giving "terrorist" daps to your teammates, then using the same hand to wipe your brow, think.
Just stay clean people.

And if you own an establishment -- please invest in usable toilet tissue dispensers.
